Did not keep in contact with us. My boyfriend got a failure to appear because he missed a court date he was not informed about. David Stone can kiss my ass! I recommend Fabian Lamenta of All Out Bailbonds. We had 45 dollars to our name and he used the title to our second vehicle as collateral until we could pay him. He is a good guy.

Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz was asked to participate in Governor Rick Scott's "Law Enforcement Work Group To Keep Florida Students Safe" which was held at the FLORIDA SHERIFF'S ASSOCIATION headquarters in Tallahassee. Approximately 40 state and local law enforcement officials, along with representatives from the governor's office and Attorney General Pam Bondi's Office, assembled to discuss plans and initiatives for immediate and long term solutions that would help protect our children and school employees. Sheriff Schultz spoke on the needs of Gilchrist County and other rual counties as it pertained to training, funding and mandatory, regular school safety assessments conducted by outside intities (law enforcement, or professional equivalent), and The feasibility of creating a Training Task Force of Florida Sheriff's Offices, specifically for active shooter response by law enforcement. He also reiterated his call for more funding for the states "Safe School" funding program. Among the other issues discussed (but not limited too): Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County provided details of his county's "Sentinel" program which allows sheriffs offices to train armed, school officials/volunteers to stand guard at school property, specifically to detour and respond in the event of an active shooting incident. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtietri expressed concerns as it pertains to Baker Acts and the process to keep firearms out of the hands of mentally impaired persons. Sheriff Wayne Ivey of Brevard County discussed the needs of training initiatives while Okaloosa County Sheriff Larry Ashley discussed needs to harden our schools as it pertains to making access to our schools more secure and the need to have a deputy Sheriff in all public schools. Sheriff Schultz said the discussions were both bennifical and productive and that the issue is being taken very seriously. (The workshop is still on going at the time of this post.) #ONETEAMONEMISSION

***A MESSAGE FROM A CITIZEN/MOM***

THE FOLLOWING WAS SENT TO SHERIFF SCHULTZ IN RESPONSE TO THE SHERIFF'S AND SUPERINDENT ROBERT RANKINS MESSAGES OF WHAT PRO-ACTIVE STEPS THE GCSO AND GCSD ARE TRYING TO DO TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN, TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS. THE AUTHOR OF THE MESSAGE REQUESTED TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS.

"Bobby, (Sheriff Schultz) I Just heard Mr. Rob Rankin’s message regarding Florida’s latest tragedy. My heart goes out to all of GCSO as well as GCSD. It just occurred to me that I may only have a few “babies” to worry myself sick over, and to try my very best to protect... but each one of you hold the responsibility of protecting the whole county’s “babies”...and with the kind of hearts that you all have, I know each and every one of you take that responsibility very seriously. All of our hearts are heavy right now, but I trust in knowing that each of you would do anything to protect each and every one of our children. Thank you.
Please feel free to forward this (anonymously) to whomever you wish, because I truly appreciate everything ALL of you do!"

***MESSAGE FROM SHERIFF SCHULTZ***

First of all, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, family, friends, school district, and first responders of the atrocious and mind numbing tragedy that occurred in Parkland, Florida yesterday. I wanted to take a moment to assure the citizens of Gilchrist County that the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office and the Gilchrist County School District are well aware of the apprehensiveness and nervousness each citizen has of whether or not we are prepared if, God forbid, this evil was to fall on our county. Truth is, there is no way anyone can guarantee that such events are preventable. But what I can assure you, is that School Superintendent Robert Rankin (And School Board Members) and I have had numerous meetings on the safety of all students in Gilchrist County and have made strides in making our campuses safer. But, we will never allow ourselves to be complacent in our thinking and actions. We routinely meet and review all safety plans and make sure we are doing all we can do to keep our students, teachers, and administrators safe. Our deputies are provided training on how to respond to such incidents. We are currently working hard to obtain additional training to make sure we stay up to date on new strategies to respond to these horrific incidents. Resources and funding is always a challenge in small, rural counties. We currently have 3 resources deputies assigned to 4 separate public schools in our county. Most of the funding for these positions is paid for by the GCSD. Frankly, we need a deputy in each school. I will continue to work with the GCSD and Board of County Commissioners to make this happen. I have been in contact with FLORIDA SHERIFF'S ASSOCIATION President, Sheriff Mike Adkinson and suggested some ideas that would allow Florida Sheriff's to assist financially constrained counties in receiving essential training and school safety evaluations using an outside perspective.
In recent weeks, we have started an initiative with the district where representatives from each public school and the GCSO meet to discuss ways to identify at risk/troubled students and find ways to help them and intervene before issues such as those we saw unfold yesterday, can occur. These are but a few things we are trying to do to make our schools as safe as possible. Again, we pray that this evil never occurs here, but we assure you we are doing our best, and we must continue to do all we can to prepare for any and all incidents that may occur.

Thank you and God Bless You,
Bobby Schultz, Sheriff
