Crime Prevention:
Longboat Key Police Officers will provide individuals or groups with information on personal safety and home security. LBKPD is available to meet with groups or the individual homeowner to educate the community on how to prevent residential crimes.
Traffic Enforcement:
Longboat Key Police Department employs officers who specialize in traffic homicide investigations, D.U.I. enforcement and traffic crash investigations. All officers enforce laws which govern the movement of vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrian traffic. In addition, our officers assist surrounding agencies with multi-agency D.U.I. checkpoints.
Marine Enforcement:
The Marine Patrol vessel patrols the waterways that surround Longboat Key. This unit monitors compliance with boating and fishing laws. Vessel inspections are encouraged and are available upon request. Making the waterways safe for all to enjoy is a top priority for this unit.
Beach Patrol:
The Beach Patrol Officer is a civilian position that patrols the beaches enforcing local ordinances, monitoring beach parking, and providing assistance as needed. This officer is also EMT certified and is equipped to provide first aid.
Communications:
The Longboat Key Police Department, Sarasota Police Department, Venice Police Department, and the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office are dispatched through the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center which is located at the Emergency Operation Center.
