Margate Police Department Divisions:

Administrative Services Division:
The Administrative Services Division provides a supportive role for the agency through units such as Training, Records, Planning, and Research, Accreditation, Grants, Emergency Management, Property and Evidence, and Court Liaison. The components of this division are responsible for the in-service training of all new and current police department personnel, processing and retention of police department reports and documents.

Special Services Division:
The Special Services Division was created as a component of the Support Services Bureau. The Special Services Division is headed by a Lieutenant with the title of Commander, and consists of three units: Code Compliance/Animal, Control, Traffic, and Fleet Control.

Patrol Division:
The Patrol Divisions major responsibilities include but are not limited to: Respond to calls, Patrol the City in marked and unmarked police vehicles, Utilize tactical patrol, Utilize directed patrol, Investigate motor vehicle crashes, Address traffic-related problems, Enforce Florida State Statutes and Margate City Ordinances Formulation, completion and monitoring of platoon goals and objectives.

K-9 Unit:
The Canine (K-9) Unit is made up of 2 Canine Teams. All canines are assigned to Road Patrol after completing a Basic Canine School. The K-9 Unit’s major responsibilities include but are not limited to: Respond to calls; Take appropriate actions in situations where police assistance is needed; Searching for missing children and adults; Locating items of evidence and value; Searching for dangerous suspects; Tracking suspects; Assisting in our schools in the ever-growing concern of security and weapons and Providing community relations demonstrations.

Investigative Services Division:
The Criminal Investigations Unit includes detectives that investigate: Bomb and Arson, Burglary, Crime against Persons, Economic Crime, Homicide, Robbery, Sexual Battery/Child Abuse, and Theft. The Support Components of Investigative Services Bureau includes; Victim advocate, Crime Scene Technician, Crime Analyst, Background Investigator.
