Administration Section:
The Office of the Chief of Police is responsible for the overall command of all sworn officers and non-sworn employees. The Administrative Units continue to serve the public and the department with innovation, new technology, and enthusiasm. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Employee Accountability, Employee Development and Training, Financial Management and Purchasing, Labor Relations and Personnel, Management, Long-Range Planning, Media Relations, and Policy Development and Review.
Investigation Section:
The Investigative Section is comprised of the General Investigative and Crime Suppression. Detectives in the General Investigative Unit are responsible for the investigation of crimes against persons such as Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, Felony Assaults, Homicides, Kidnapping, Missing Persons, Robberies, Sexual Assaults, and Other Sensitive Cases.
Detectives in Crime Suppression are tasked with addressing a multitude of issues to deter criminal activity in the City. They utilize nontraditional patrol techniques, such as Completing Field Interviews on Suspicious Persons, Covert Surveillance, Executing Search Warrants, Seeking out and Arresting Violent Criminals, Serving High Risk, Warrants and Targeted Patrol Details.

The Uniform Patrol Section is the heart of the police organization. This section provides 24-hour operational police service throughout the City of North Miami.
