Palmetto Police Department Divisions:
Uniformed Patrol Division:
Palmetto Police Officers assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division patrol the City of Palmetto, respond to calls for service, and are the face of the Police Department to the community.
Criminal Investigation Division:
The Criminal Investigations Division is tasked with investigating crimes against persons and property throughout the City of Palmetto. These crimes include burglaries of residences, businesses and vehicles, robberies, grand thefts, aggravated assaults, battery, sex crimes, crimes against children, fraud, and homicide. Detectives are assigned cases for follow-up once an Officer completes an initial report or sometimes a Detective may take an initial report themselves.
School Resource Officers:
The Palmetto Police Department School Resource Officer Program helps to build up the interaction between law Enforcement and the Students increasing their safety, security, and preventing violence within schools allowing the students to get the best education possible for their future.
Crime Prevention and Community Policing:
The Palmetto Police Department’s Crime Prevention and Community Policing Unit participates in developing a deeper rapport with community members and focuses on building the relationship between children and law enforcement. The Unit is available for community events, job fairs, crime prevention presentations, security surveys, fraud awareness education presentations, etc.
Communications/Dispatch:
The Palmetto Police Department Communications Division is responsible for the 24/7 operation of our dispatch center and call center.

Property and Evidence:
The Mission of the Property and Evidence Section is to accept, catalog, safeguard, store, and produce evidence as required for court, as well as return to owner or otherwise legally dispose of property and evidence received into the custody of the Palmetto Police Department. The Section’s main facility is a secure warehouse, which houses over 5,000 items.
